Why we REALLY get angry

Anger is a normal, human response. However, when it gets out of control and turns destructive, it can lead to problems. No one likes to feel out of control of their emotions, and anger is generally all about feeling out of control and at the mercy of an unpredictable and powerful emotion.

I describe anger as a ‘secondary’ emotion. People feel anger in response to feeling another negative emotion first. Perhaps they feel unloved, hard-done-by, resentful, taken for granted, frustrated or ignored and their way of responding to that feeling is with anger. It is therefore important to understand the thinking and emotion that caused that anger in order to gain insight and start to feel more in control.

Poor self belief can be an underlying contributory factor to anger. The way that we experience our world and the people and events in it is reflective of our views of ourself. If you find that you are frequently getting angry, or excessively angry, the chances are that you are getting your buttons pushed. However, if you felt good about yourself those buttons wouldn’t be there to push in the first place! Very often, anger can be the result of taking things too personally, losing perspective and over-reacting.

help for anger managementI generally feel content and small things that may have bothered me previously do not faze me now. I also feel less anger and a general sense of wellbeing. Treatment for anger with The Thrive Programme

help for anger managementThe ideal solution is not to just help you control the anger when it does happen, but get rid of the causes of the anger. The Thrive Programme is a unique and highly effective training course where you will learn how to understand, take control and change your unhelpful thoughts and emotions.

Thrive will provide you with amazing personal insight, allowing you to totally change any limiting belief systems that are adversely affecting your life. You will discover what styles of thinking are causing you problems: Do you catastrophise? Do you obsess and ruminate about things? Do you always anticipate the worst case scenrio in forthcoming situations? I will also prove to what a huge part your imagination plays in both causing and resolving problems and symptoms.

When you genuinely understand how your mind works, i.e. the interaction between your emotions, your personality and your thinking, you feel much more in control and empowered. When you recognise that most of your problems, stresses, symptoms and ill-health are either caused or made worse by poorly-managed thinking, you feel fantastic … because if you caused these problems, then you can change them!

How Thrive differs from anger management courses, CBT or NLP for the treatment of anger issues

Thrive is entirely different to techniques such as NLP or CBT in that 90% of the success of The Thrive Programme is in your understanding of your beliefs and thinking. In fact, many of my clients have already tried these techniques to little or no avail. It is no good teaching you any sort of ‘positive thinking’ or CBT or NLP techniques unless you understand the component parts of your thinking that are creating the anger in the first place . If you are not able to understand or alter the driving forces behind your limiting beliefs it can feel as though you are ‘treading water’ trying to fend off negative thoughts.

Just having that level of understanding and insight that Thrive will give you is the main factor in people getting better – even before using any proactive techniques to deal with anxiety and symptoms.

The Thrive Programme is easy to understand and very effective, all that’s required is your effort and commitment.
